Among my friends and colleagues I was usually the shoulder to cry on. They would tell me their troubles and ask me questions. They didn’t always like my suggestion, but as a aspiring cognitive therapist sometimes the answer isn’t easy to hear.
Now I just threw in a term that you may know and you may not. In psychology there are a few different type of therapies that center around a particular idea. Cognitive therapy focuses on how an individual thinks affects the life they live. Which for me also involves the individual being mostly responsible and accountable for their own mental health.
That might sound really intimidating. Which is why there are other types of therapies so everyone can receive council which is most helpful to them. But for this blog I will be focused on how you as an individual can better yourself and your relationships through self reflection. It won’t be easy, but journeys seldom are.
